GDOT project STP-9408(3) proposes to improve SR'961/Old Alabama Road from Holcomb Bridge Road to Jones Bridge Road for approximately 7.75 miles (12.47 km). GDOT Project CSSTP-0008-00(425) proposes to improve SR961/Old Alabama Road from Jones Bridge Road to Buice Road for approximately 7.3 miles (11.75 km). Existing SR 961/Old Alabama Road consists of two 12-foot lanes (one lane in each direction) with a 20 foot (6.1 m) raised median, sidewalks, curb, gutter, and bike lanes. Varying median and right-of-way widths will be reviewed at some locations to avoid and minimize environmental impacts. Generally the typical sections would require between 90 to 130 feet of right-of-way, including auxiliary turn lanes and turn lanes at major intersections.
