Abstract

This report presents an archeological survey of project SAPS-0006-00(302) in Butts County. This proposed project consists of the design upgrade of one traffic signal on SR 16 at SR 36 within the City of Jackson, Butts County, Georgia. The work will include the following: replacing the existing wood signal poles with new strain poles; replacing signal heads and conduits; installing fiber and fiber optic equipment; and replacing controller cabinets with new equipment. A small miter, containing approximately 180 sq. ft. of required right-of-way, is needed at the southeast corner of the intersection for the implementation of this project. No existing or eligible National Register resources were located within the project's area of potential environmental effect. It is concluded, therefore, that the project will have no effect upon archeological resources on or eligible for inclusion in the NRHP provided that the project conforms to that described above.
