Abstract

On June 13, 2005 the Georgia Department of Transportation conducted a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey at the request of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Historic Preservation Division. Two GPR survey grids were placed on top of Mound A at Kolomoki State Park(Figure 1). The goal of the survey was to locate subsurface anomalies at the top of Mound A. Although no distinct patterns of anomalies were identified, numerous anomalies were located. Four of these anomalies between 110-170 centimeters below the surface (curbs) were strong and may warrant consideration in future stabilization activities at Mound A.
