Abstract

This is a GDOT archaeological report short form for negative findings for a pedestrian survey transects were walked along on both sides of the corridor and shovel test locations were investigated at a 100-feet (30-meter) interval. These transect were oriented parallel to Decatur Street. Shovel test pits were excavated in areas of less than 75 percent surface visibility and of less than a 15 percent slope, but not in areas comprised of redeposited soils. Exposed ground was visually inspected within a 33-feet (10-meter) radius of the shovel test location. Shovel tests were 1 foot (30-centimeters) in diameter excavations dug until culturally sterile subsoil was reached. The entire survey tract was eroded and devoid of ground cover. Subsoil was exposed on the surface at every shovel test location examined. Due to the urban nature of the landscape no shovel test pits were excavated at the location examined.
