Abstract

A Phase I cultural resources survey was conducted for the proposed Fairgreen Capital Mirror Lake Development Site in Douglas County, Georgia in order to locate and identify cultural resources within the project area and assess resource significance. The project area covers approximately 600 acres in the Town Branch drainage, approximately 2.2 km east of the city of Villa Rica, Georgia. Twenty archeological sites and four isolated finds were recorded during the survey. Prehistoric occupations representing the Late Archaic and general Woodland/Mississippian periods were recognized. Historic occupations include 19th through early 20th century gold mining, and residential, agricultural, and recreational use of the area from the middle 19th through the late 20th century. One site, 9DO137 is recommended eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The remaining 19 sites and isolated finds are recommended ineligible.
