Abstract

Addendum to Phase I Archaeological Survey of the Thurman and Fairview Roads Project Area in Henry County, Georgia. Original Description: The proposed project would consist of improvements to the intersection of Fairview Road and Thurman Road in Henry County. Thurman and Fairview Roads are two-lane urban facilities that intersect at the northern terminus of Thurman Road and form a "T" intersection. Due to the high volumes of traffic at this intersection, the proposed project would widen Thurman Road to add a right turn land, and would widen Fairview Road to include a left turn lane for the east approach and a right turn land for the west approach. A traffic signal also would be provided at the improved intersection. The proposed typical section along Thurman Road would consist of two 12-foot travel lanes and one 12-foot right turn land with 8-foot shoulders (2-foot paved and 6-foot grassed). The proposed typical section along Fairview Road would consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, one 12-foot left turn land and one 12-foot right turn lane with 8-foot shoulders (2-foot paved and 6-foot grassed). In some locations, an alternate 12-foot shoulder with curb and gutter would be used to minimize damage to existing development. Existing right-of-way along both roadways is approximately 80 feet. Right-of-way acquisition would be required along both roadways (see attached sheet for project changes). The APE for the project includes everything within the proposed construction project length and within the maximum extent of the existing and required right-of-way as described above. There were no sites recorded within a 1-km radius of the project area.
