Abstract

On December 20 and 21, 2005, April 4, 2006, and June 13, 2006, URS Corporation performed a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed Arabia Mountain Multi-Use Trail in DeKalb County, Georgia. As a result of the survey, three archaeological sites were recorded. Sites 9DA433 and 9DA435 both consist of a very light-density lithic scatters of unknown prehistoric cultural affiliation. Site 9DA434 consists of a 20th Century site with three chimneys (one standing) and an artifact scatter. Sites 9DA433 and 9DA435 are not considered significant and have not been recommended for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Eligibility for 9DA434 is considered unknown; however, the portion of the site falling within the APE for the current project is considered noncontributing. No further archaeological investigations are recommended within the currently proposed project limits.
