The proposed project would consist of the replacement of the SR 85 bridge over the CSX Railroad in Meriwether County, Georgia (see project location map). Because the bridge is located in downtown Manchester, existing development would preclude the use of a temporary detour bridge or a new bridge on an adjacent alignment. Therefore, the new bridge would have to be built in place of the old and an off-site detour would be employed. Construction would be limited almost exclusively to the bridge location and the immediate surroundings. The need for additional right-of-way is not anticipated; however, a temporary construction easement may be needed.
