The proposed project would install a traffic signal at the intersection of SR 243/US 441, Swint Avenue, and Caraker Street. The project would also install pedestrian signals, crosswalks, and pedestrian ramps that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The existing SR 243/US 441 northbound approach consists of one 20-foot and one 11-foot travel lane and an 11-foot northbound right turn lane. The southbound approach consists of four 10-foot lanes, three travel lanes and one southbound left turn lane. Both approaches have sidewalks and curb and gutter. The existing right-of-way is approximately 60 feet.
The proposed SR 243/US 441 would consist of three 12-foot lanes on the southwest approach, including a right turn lane. The northeast approach at the intersection would consist of three 11-foot lanes including a 12-foot right turn lane. The section would then taper down to four 10-foot lanes.
The existing and proposed Swint Avenue consists of two 12-foot travel lanes with concrete curb and gutter. The existing right-of-way is approximately 50 feet.
The existing Caraker Street consists of two 20-foot travel lanes with concrete curb and gutter. The existing right-of-way is approximately 80 feet. The proposed Caraker Street would consist of three lanes including an eastbound through lane, a westbound shared left and through lane, as well as a westbound right movement.
All work would take place within the existing right-of-way.
