Abstract

In August 2006, Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. (EPEI) conducted a Phase I archaeological survey for the proposed Bethlehem Road improvement project, under a contract with Henry County SPLOST. The length of the project corridor is approximately 1,450 feet (ft). The project area is located northeast of Luella in Henry County, Georgia. The goal of the survey was to locate and evaluate archaeological sites within the Area of Potential Effects (APE) of the proposed undertaking The project was performed in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 as amended, to meet the conditions of United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) permitting under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. The assessment was conducted to locate and identify cultural resources within the project area, and to assess resource significance based on National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) criteria [36CFR Part 60.4].
