Abstract

In July and August 2006, Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI) performed an intensive cultural resource assessment survey of the 63-acre Patel-Gateway West tract, on behalf of Blue Heron Development. The goal of the survey was to locate, identify, delineate, and evaluate all cultural resources within the parcel, including prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, as well as historic structures, to comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended. The cultural resource assessment survey included a pedestrian inspection combined with systematic shovel testing at 30 and 90-meter intervals. Delineation shovel tests were dug at 10 meter intervals. As a result of the survey, one isolated find (I.F.1) was documented. One artifact was recovered during survey and all delineation shovel tests at 10 meter intervals were sterile. It was determined that Isolated Find 1 is not eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and no further work or avoidance is recommended.
