Abstract

This project is one of several projects on SR 40 Okefenokee Parkway between Folkston (Charlton County) and Kingsland (Camden County). This project begins on the north side of Folkston at the intersection of SR- 15/US-I with Indian Trail/ US-301 Connector. At the intersection with US-I the existing 2-lane US 301/ Indian Trail will be widened to a 5 lane section and will be slightly realigned to better utilize the corridor for the extension of SR-40 into Folkston. At the end of US-301 Connector the alignment will turn towards the East on to the existing SR-40 corridor. The proposed improvements will widen to a 4 lane section with a 32 foot wide grassed median prior to turning on to the SR-40 corridor. The four lane section extends to Mile Post 2.54 (south of CR 82) in Charlton County. The end of this project will tie into the project STP-141-1(10) PI Number 522350 Charlton County, which is in operation. The existing SR-40 section is a rural two-lane section. The proposed project consists of the construction of two-additional travel lanes with a 32-foot depressed median. The total length of this project is approximately 2.94 miles. The existing ROW for this project is 100 feet. The proposed ROW is a minimum of 105 feet and a maximum of 200 feet.
