Abstract

The project area is located along Sugarloaf Parkway and Satellite Boulevard, 5.8 km (3.6 miles) southeast of Duluth and 9.9 km (6.1 miles) northwest of Lawrenceville, Georgia. New sidewalks are proposed along the south side of the existing Sugarloaf Parkway, extending from the Gwinnett Arena main entrance to the Interstate 85 overpass. Beyond this bridge, the sidewalk would extend to and follow along the access drive for the Park and Ride Lot adjacent to the interstate. Beyond the access road, the sidewalk would follow the north side of Sugarloaf Parkway to its terminus at North Brown Road. At the Satellite Boulevard intersection, the walkway would follow the western side of the existing roadway, terminating at the Gwinnett Center access road. The total distance of sidewalk to be constructed along Sugarloaf Parkway is approximately 1.8 km (1.1 miles). The Satellite Boulevard and Park and Ride access segments are approximately 0.3 km (0.2 mile) and 0.2 km (0.1 mile) respectively. The proposed right-of-way for Sugarloaf Parkway will be within a 170 foot wide corridor. The proposed right-of-way for Satellite Boulevard is within a 130 foot corridor. The survey will focus on the portion of these corridors to be impacted by sidewalk construction. The area of potential effect for this study will be confined to this area. Primary impacts for the construction of these pedestrian walkways are expected to be restricted to these areas as defined.
