Abstract

In compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended, archaeologists with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) conducted a Phase I intensive survey of the proposed West Perry Parkway [GDOT Project CSSTP-0008-00(649), PI 0008649] near Perry, Houston County, Georgia. Four new archaeological sites were located and identified within the project's area of potential effect (APE). Based on the artifact assemblages, site conditions, and disturbed contexts of all four sites identified, the portions of the sites identified within the APE for the project do not contribute to the overall eligibility of the site's inclusion to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Because the entire boundary of each site was not delineated beyond the limits of the APE, the eligibility of the sites as a whole cannot be determined.
