Abstract

The proposed projects include sidewalks improvements within the city of Forsyth, Monroe County, along an approximately 538.9 meter (1,767 ft) long corridor that surrounds the Forsyth Courthouse Square (Figure 1). The corridors are located on both sides of the streets which surround the courthouse square (Main Street [US 41], West Johnson Street, North Lee Street, and Jackson Street). The project improvements would include constructing new sidewalks to replace the existing sidewalks, adding safer pedestrian crossings across curb cuts and intersections, the upgrade of underground utilities, and the relocating of overhead utilities by the City of Forsyth to the rear of buildings facing the square. The new sidewalks would be the same width as the existing sidewalks and all work will be confined to the existing rights-of-way.
