Abstract

The project proposes to construct a connector street from Hewatt Road to Britt Drive in order to provide access to property owners and remove commercial traffic from US 78. The proposed project would begin approximately 430 feet north of the intersection with US 78 and Hewatt Road and would proceed east on new roadway alignment for approximately 0.91 mile to terminate at Britt Drive. The proposed project is located in Gwinnett County approximately one mile west of Snellville and within the Evermore Community Improvement District (CID). The proposed project is included within the "Five Year Implementation Plan" for the Highway 78 Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) Corridor Study. Pedestrian safety would be provided via sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. The existing typical section includes a two-way, two-lane road with travel lanes approximately 12 feet wide, with curb and gutter and no sidewalks. The proposed typical section would include a two-way road with 12-foot lanes, and a 13-foot urban shoulder with 30-inch curb and gutter and a 5-foot sidewalk on the south side. Twelve-foot turn lanes would be constructed if needed. The proposed ROW would be 50 feet.
