Phase I Archaeological Survey for Intersection Improvements to Walt Banks Road at North Peachtree Pky

The proposed project would consist of improvements to the intersection of CS 303/Walt Banks Road and CS 340/Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City, Fayette County, Georgia. The existing Walt Banks Road consists of two 11.5' through-lanes, one in each direction, with grass shoulders to the east of Peachtree Parkway and curb and gutter west of Peachtree Parkway. The existing right-of-way width is approximately 50 feet on Walt Banks Road. The existing Peachtree Parkway consists of two 11.5' through-lanes, one in each direction, with grass shoulders. The existing right-of-way width is approximately 60 feet on Peachtree Parkway south of the intersection and 90 feet on Peachtree Parkway north of the intersection. Walt Banks Road to the east of Peachtree Parkway would be widened to accommodate one eastbound 12-foot travel lane, one 12-foot westbound shared left-turn and throughlane, and one 12-foot westbound right-turn lane. Walt Banks Road to the west of Peachtree Parkway would remain one 12-foot travel lane in each direction. The proposed project would require additional right-of-way up to 20-feet in width and easement up to 40 feet in width on the north side of the westbound approach. Peachtree Parkway north of Walt Banks Road would be widened to accommodate one 12-foot northbound through-lane, one 12-foot southbound left-turn lane, and one 12-foot southbound shared through-lane and right-turn lane. Peachtree Parkway south of Walt Banks Road would be widened to accommodate one 12-foot southbound through-lane, one 12-foot northbound shared left-turn and through-lane, and one 12-foot northbound right-turn lane. No additional right-of-way or easement would be required on Peachtree Parkway. The shoulders would consist of curb and gutter on all legs of the intersection with a 10foot multi-use path on both sides of Walt Banks Road east of the intersection and on the west side of Peachtree Parkway north of the intersection. The shoulder widths would vary from 7.5 to 12.0 feet. The project limits on Walt Banks Road would extend from approximately 100 feet west of the intersection to 300 feet east of the intersection. The project limits on Peachtree Parkway would extend from approximately 334 feet south of the intersection to approximately 499 feet north of the intersection. The total project length would be approximately 1,233 feet (0.23 mile). The total amount of required right-of-way would be approximately 2,589 square feet (0.06 acre). The total amount of permanent easement would be approximately 5,656 square feet (0.13 acre).
