Projects FR-023-1(8), (9) in Atkinson and Coffee counties represents the proposed widening of U.S. 441/S.R. 31 from the intersection of U.S. 441 and U.S. 82 in Pearson to C.R. 588 approximately five miles south of Douglas. The existing two-lane facility would be widened to four-lanes. Combined length of the projects is approximately 12.8 miles. The Department of Natural Resources' Atkinson and Coffee County surveys have not been completed and were therefore not available for use on this project. Lists of current National Register properties were checked and aerial photographs along the length of the project were consulted. A field survey for potential historic resources was also conducted along the project corridor. No existing or potential National Register properties are located within the project's area of potential environmental impact. Therefore, implementation of projects FR-023-1(8), (9) will have no effect on existing or potential National Register properties.
