The proposed projects would widen and reconstruct 1-85 from SR 211 in Barrow County northward to SR 17 in Franklin County, for a total length of 46.9 miles. A new lane will be added within the existing median. All proposed work would be done within existing right-of-way. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for all currently undisturbed portions of the existing median as well as all stream/river crossings or other high-probability areas within the project corridor. No existing or eligible National Register resources were located within the project's area of potential environmental effect.
