Abstract

Project EDS-441(30) consists of the widening and reconstruction of US 441/SR 15 from CR 230 to CR 150 in Banks County. Archaeological clearance for the proposed project was completed by GDOT staff archaeologist Bob Entorf in 1987. As part of the proposed project, the GDOT Banks County Maintenance Headquarters would be relocated and constructed adjacent to the new US 441/SR 15 alignment. GDOT is seeking early right-of-way acquisition of approximately 5.661 acres from property currently owned by Banks County for the proposed GDOT Banks County Maintenance Headquaters. The property in question is located just east of Thompson Street, southeast of the city of Homer. The additional required right-of-way needed for project construction of US 441/SR 15 is approximately 300 feet in the area of the proposed maintenance headquarters relocation site. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed project description was conducted for the entire area of the project corridor.
