Abstract

In 1983, Georgia Southern professor of political science, George Cox, developed an interest in one of Georgia's dead towns, Wrightsboro. Cox's interest was in the fact that this town had been originally settled by members of the Society of Friends (Quakers). As part of his investigations, he invited this researcher to visit the site of the town. The remains of the town were impressive to say the least and a collaborative effort was born. Eight years later it continues. This report is intended to summarize what we currently know about the archeology of Wrightsboro, and point to areas for future investigation.
