Abstract

The following report summarizes a cultural resource survey of proposed land exchange TVA Tract 18, Colwell. The project area is located in Compartment 413, Brasstown Ranger District. The project area is accessible via U.S. Route 76 West approximately 5 miles from Blairsville, then right on to Queens Gap Road to the"D.C. Wintermute residence. The project area lies adjacent to the Wintermute property. The project area consists of approximately 37 acres of land bordered by the floodplains of Coosa Creek (north, northeast) and by private property from the south and west sides. Private property is in both timber and cultivation. Thearea is characterized by slopes ranging from 5 to 45 percent, is crisscrossed by numerous logging roads, and is bisected by a-broad ridge in a north-south orientation.
