Abstract

The preferred alternative for Project STPO0-0004-00(915) and STPO0-019-1(15) in Bartow & Floyd Counties consists of widening State Route (SR) 140 from two to four lanes. The existing right-of-way (ROW) along SR 140 ranges from 80 to 120 feet. The proposed ROW would range from 100 to 400 feet. Total project length is approximately 7.2 miles. Project STPO0-0004-00(915) would begin at the intersection of SR 140 and SR 53 and would continue east to approximately 0.3 mile west of Oothkalooga Creek (Adairsville city limits). The proposed typical section would include four 12-foot travel lanes divided by a 44-foot grassed median with 10-foot shoulders. The 10-foot shoulders would include a four-foot bike lane. The posted speedl imit would be 55 miles per hour (mph). Project -STPOO-019-1(15) would begin at the Adairsville city limits and end at the intersection of SR 140 and SR 3/US 41. The proposed typical section would include four 12-foot travel lanes divided by a 20-foot raised median with three-foot bike lanes and 12 foot shoulders that include five-foot sidewalks. Project BHFOO-019-1(16) would replace the existing SR 140 bridge over Oothkalooga Creek and the SR 140 bridge over the CSX Railroad.
