Abstract

Between February 8 and 18, 1978, the Institute for New World Research conducted a cultural resources survey of sites of proposed construction in the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, Georgia. A background and documentary search for the region was also performed. During the survey, twenty-four sites were discovered. The artifacts which were found indicate that the area has been occupied during the Archaic, Woodland, and Historic Periods. The initiation of a testing program is recommended for determination of the nature and significance of the archaeological sites located during the survey.
