The present report describes a cultural resource survey of proposed U.S. Forest Service road number 1040-D, scheduled for construction during 1977. The road is located east of road number 1040 in compartment 127 of the Oconee National Forest. The proposed route begins at road number 1040 at a point approximately 2.2 kilometers (1.35 miles) south-southeast of Union Hill Church and approximately 2.95 kilometers (1.85 miles) southeast of the junction of the boundaries of Jasper, Jones, and Putnam Counties. From this point the proposed route follows an existing dirt road in a south-southeasterly direction until terminating at a dead end.
