Abstract

The proposed project would consist of pedestrian improvements in the vicinity of Club view Elementary School in Muscogee County, Georgia. Concrete sidewalks would be installed along Sue Mack Drive. New curb ramps would be incorporated at each curb cut, while highly visible cross walks and signage would be placed at select intersections of the proposed walkways. Approximately 715 feet of new sidewalk would be installed along the west side of Sue Mack Drive starting at the intersection of Edgewood Road and continuing south to Nancy Street. The existing right-of-way along Sue Mack Drive is 70 feet. Additional right-of-way would not be required. The total project length is approximately 0.15 mile. All sidewalks would be 5-feet wide, constructed within the existing right-of-way, and would comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG), and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) requirements. Curb cuts, curb and gutter, and signage would be placed and/or replaced along the border and where needed. To avoid impacts to historic vegetation, construction would begin at the existing edge of pavement and would extend east into the existing roadway, resulting in a slightly narrower road width.
