Abstract

The following report summarizes a cultural resource survey conducted by Ferguson within the corridor of U.S. Forest Service Road Number 1066-2. The road scheduled for construction in 1977, is located in compartment 146, Oconee National Forest, east of the county road connecting Highway 212 and Highway 16 at Linchburg. The proposed route begins at the county road at a point approximately 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) Northeast of Highway 212 and approximately 3.7 kilometers (2.4 miles) southeast of the point where the county road crosses Murder Creek. From this point the road extends 1.44 kilometers (.9 miles) south-southeast, at which point it terminates just north of an unnamed tributary of Murder Creek.
