Abstract

Project STP00-0001-00(038) consists of intersection improvement at the State Route (SR) 211 and SR 124 intersection located south of the City of Braselton in Barrow County Georgia. The proposed typical section for SR 124 is a typical urban section with a 30-foot raised concrete media, 1 0-foot shoulders that include curb-and-gutter, a 2-foot grass strip, and a 5-foot sidewalk. SR 124 eastbound will ave two left-turn lanes, two through lanes, and one right-turn lane at the eastbound approach to the intersection of SR 211. SR 124 westbound will have one left-turn lane, two through lanes, and one right-turn lane at the west bound approach to the intersection of SR 211. The proposed typical section for SR 211 is a typical urban section with a painted gore/median, 10-foot shoulders that include curb-and-gutter, a 2-foot grass strip, and a 5-foot side alk southbound. SR 211 northbound will have a sidewalk added up to the existing 1-85 overpass bridge. The proposed sidewalk will not cross the bridge overpass due to due to insufficient bridge width. The lane configuration for S 211 at the 1-85 interchange will be modified to extend the existing left turn lane from SR 211 northbound onto 1-85 southbound. SR 211 southbound will have two left-turn lanes, two through lanes, and one right-turn lane at the south bound approach to the intersection of SR 124. SR 211 northbound will have one left-turn lane, two through lanes, and one right-turn lane at the northbound approach to the intersection of SR 124.
