On October 21 and 22, 1995 a limited archaeological investigation was undertaken in the area of the nineteenth century well at Bulloch Hall located in the city of Roswell, Fulton County, Georgia. The 1995 archaeological investigations were undertaken to provide initial information on the construction of the well which would subsequently be used to guide the efforts to restore the well canopy and surrounding apron to its antebellum appearance. The project was underwritten by a combination of operating money from Bulloch all and private funds. Data gathered during the excavation provided significant information on the well apron and canopy as it was originally built circa 1840 and the modifications to it after 1900. Five cultural features relating to t e construction of the well apron and canopy and a total of 225 artifacts dating from the mid-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were recovered and documented during the investigation. The testing provided a firmer idea of the appearance of the original well structure. Further, a study of the function of the well in relation to the house portrays a visual representation of Bulloch's prominent social status.
