Abstract

The proposed project would consist of the replacement of GDOT Bridge 167-0027-0, which is located on US 221/SR 171 over the Little Ohoopee River, approximately 2.7 miles north ofKite, Georgia (refer to Figure 1 ). The existing bridge consists of seven spans of reinforced concrete deck girders on concrete caps and steel piles with a total length of 266 feet. The width is 26 feet consisting of 12-foot lanes in each direction. The proposed bridge is estimated to be 266 feet in length and 36 feet wide. The proposed bridge would have 12-foot lanes in each direction with 6-foot shoulders. During the replacement of the bridge, traffic would be rerouted to an off-site detour. The existing right-of-way (ROW) varies from approximately 80 feet to approximately 200 feet. Proposed ROW would vary from approximately 100 feet to approximately 225 feet. The total length of the proposed project would be approximately 0.18 mile. The project would also include the realignment of Swain Creek Road at its intersection with US 221/SR 171 in order to meet current safety standards.
