Abstract

In compliance with Section ·l06 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project FR-065-2(8), Gordon County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, espec1ally those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. This is the widening of the present 2-lane section of S.R. 53 from the existing 4-lane section east of I-75 to a point just west of C.R. 52. A corridor one mile long and 75 feet either side of the existing centerline was examined.
