Report Abstracts

At Cloudland Canyon State Park in Dade County, Georgia, an area proposed for development was archaeologically surveyed on 11 March 1980. Development consists of a new "pioneer camp area." No archaeological sites (resources) were identified.

The Upper Noses Creek Interceptor Sewer, Contract 28 C, was designed by Henley-Schmidt, Inc., Marietta, Georgia. The alignment of 28 C is divided into two sections: 1st Sec.

1. On 20 May 1980 archeologists from the Environmental Compliance Section, Planning Division, Mobile District, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers conducted an intensive cultural resources survey of a seven (7) acre tract leased to the U. S. Army for recreation purposes (Map A).

On March 29 and 30, 1978, and on April 5, 1978, members of the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology conducted a reconnaissance of eight river locations on the Savannah River, and a reconnaissance of Oates Creek, Augusta, Georgia.

This document is a report on archeological fieldwork in progress at ten sites located on the Naval Submarine Support Base at Kings Bay, Camden County, Georgia.

On June 26-30, 1980 an archaeological survey was conducted on a 242 acre area that will be affected by the expansion and modification of an existing sewage treatment facility located approximately two miles south of the town of Baxley, Georgia.

An archaeological survey of the proposed Watkinsville, Georgia Wastewater Treatment Facility discovered four archaeological sites. Two sites 9Oc21 and 9Oc 22 are the remains of Durham's Mill and Gin and the miller's dwelling (ca.1870).

The following report covers a survey of the archaeological and historical resources threatened with destruction by the future construction of certain portions of Savannah to Jacksonville Interstate Route 95 in Chatham, Bryan, Liberty, Glynn and Camden Counties in Georgia.
