Report Abstracts

The farm covers 102 acres on the highest point of land near Royston. According to Mr. Gibby, it was secured when his father and a group of other north Georgians chased away a band of Indians Apparently, this took place in the late 19th century. It was after the Civil War.

This report represents the results of an archaeological and historical survey related to a proposed expansion of hurricane Shoals Park in Jackson County, Georgia. Hurricane Shoals is located on the North Oconee River, approximately seven miles northeast of Jefferson(See Figure I).

An archaeological survey of the proposed Blythe Island Regional Park was conducted for the Glynn County, Georgia, Department of Leisure Services. Twenty-one prehistoric and historic archaeological sites were recorded.

No formal extensive archaeological survey has ever been made of Carroll County, Georgia.

Pursuant to a request from the Georgia State Office of the Soil Conservation Service, an archaeological survey of Structure 7, Upper Mulberry River Watershed Project, Gwinnett County, Georgia was conducted by University of Georgia archaeologists.
