Phase I Archeological Survey of the Proposed Cleveland Bypass, White County

Abstract

New South Associates conducted a cultural resources survey along the proposed Cleveland Bypass project corridor in White County, Georgia on June 16 and 17, 1992. The purpose of the survey was to locate all archeological sites within the corridor and make recommendations concerning their National Register eligibility. The survey found two sites in the corridor, Cleveland sites 1,and 2. The survey also recorded three projectile found by a private collector in his garden which lies partially in the project area. However, the survey did not locate any artifacts In the same area and it was not designated as a site. Neither of the sites appear to qualify for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places and no further investigation is recommended.
