Abstract

The archaeological survey of the proposed construction site for the Darien sewage treatment plant encompassed an area 500 feet by 1000 feet (152 by 304 meters). The methods employed included pedestrian surface reconnaissance and shovel cuts. Because of the lack of surface exposure due to a dense forest understory, shovel cutting was the major survey method used.
