Abstract

Wehadkee Farm raises Beefmaster cattle on 400 ac of land in extreme western Heard County, Georgia. The farm is only 1 km east of the Alabama state line. The county seat, Franklin, lies 15 km (kilometers) to the northeast. The farm's owners, Ben and Linda Pike, expressed interest in knowing whether archeological sites might be present on their property and contracted with Southern Research to conduct a reconnaissance survey of the land. In this report we present the results of the survey based on the study of 13 sites dating from about 8,000 BC to AD 1942.
