Abstract

“In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, BRZLB-297 (26), Walton County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project consists of the replacement of the bridge on CR 289 / Bearden Road over Jacks Creek just east of the city of Monroe. The project would begin approximately 30 m (98.4ft) south of the creek and would end approximately 30 m (98.4ft) north of the creek. The existing right-of-way is approximately 18.3 m (60ft). Additional right-of-way would be approximately 27.4 m (90ft). An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted along the entire project corridor.
