Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project HES-083-1(21), Dougherty Co. has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. Present plans indicate that the right turn lane on Slappy Blvd. at the intersection of Oglethorpe Blvd. will be constructed within the existing 100’ of right-of-way. Archaeology survey of this 100’ of right-of-way, plus an additional 25’ east of the existing right-of-way, indicated that no significant archaeological resources were located within the corridor up to 160’ south of the intersection of Slappy and Oglethorpe Blvd’s.
