Abstract

The proposed project consists of the widening and improvement of Sigman Road (CR 435) from east of Lester Road to Irwin Bridge Road In the central portion of Rockdale County, Georgia, approximately 1.5 miles north of the center of Conyers. The purpose of the proposed project is to relieve congestion and reduce the potential for crashes and crash-related injuries and fatalities along this established travel corridor by widening and improving the existing 2-lane rural roadway to a 4-lane divided facility consisting of four 12-foot lanes with a 20-foot raised grass median, 16-foot outside shoulders with curb and gutter, and a 5-foot sidewalk. The proposed projects would provide an efficient and safe facility with separate tum lanes for all vehicle movements at controlled access points along the length of the projects. These projects serve as a circumferential route around the City of Conyers to access major transportation facilities such as Interstate 20, SR 138 and SR 20. In addition, a 5-ft. wide multi-use path would be constructed on the north shoulder of Sigman Road from just east of Lester Road to Irwin Bridge Road. Existing ROW is 80-100 ft. Proposed ROW is 100-136 ft. The total length of the project is 1.2 miles. See attachments for additional description.
