Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRZLB-219(9), Oconee/Barrow has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. This project involves the replacement of the bridge on County Road 53 over Little Bear Creek. The project begins 380 feet south of the bridge and ends 340 feet north of that bridge. Required right-of-way is 80 feet throughout the project, with the exception of a section approximately 25 feet south of the bridge. From here to the bridge, required right-of-way is 10 feet less on the west side of Co. Rd. 53. Construction easements are required both up and downstream of the bridge.
