Abstract

This report details the results of a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed Rocky Mountain to Pinson 500 kV transmission line corridor. A total of 18 archaeological sites and nine isolated finds were recorded. Fourteen sites are prehistoric, two are historical, and two contain prehistoric and historical cultural material. Of the 18 archaeological ties discovered, seven have the potential to meet one of the four Criteria necessary for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and further work is recommended at these locations. These sites are: 9FL272, 9FL273, 9FL274, 9FL276, 9FL283,9FL285, and 9FL286. Three structures that are more than 50 years old will be visually impacted by the construction of the proposed transmission line. None are recommended eligible for the NRHP and it is our opinion that it will not be necessary to mitigate the visual affect on any of the three structures.
