Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, STP-153-1(27), Dooly County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project consists of the construction of a flat bottom concrete ditch and double lines of 76.2 cm (30 in) concrete pipe along the north shoulder of SR 215. The project would begin at MP 0.239 and would end at MP 0.374 in the city of Vienna. The existing right-of-way varies from approximately 27.4 m (90ft) to approximately 32.0 m (105ft). Additional required right-of-way would vary to a maximum of 4.6 m (15ft). An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted along the entire project corridor.
