Abstract

In 2003, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Office of Environment and Location, contracted with Brockington and Associates, Inc. (Brockington) to conduct Phase III Data Recovery at two archaeological sites in Sumter and Schley Counties. The archaeological excavations were part of the mitigation of adverse effects for the proposed widening of U.S. Highway 19/State Route 3 (US 19/SR3), between Americus and Butler, Georgia. Fieldwork was conducted at one site in April 2004 and at the other in December 2004.
