Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Project P.I. No. 0013751 in Newton County would replace the existing two-lane bridge on State Route (SR) 81 over Dried Indian Creek in Covington, Georgia. The new bridge would be constructed on existing alignment. The proposed bridge would maintain two travel lanes, one in each direction, with a center dual left turn lane. Constructing the bridge on existing alignment would require an off-site detour. The existing right-of-way (ROW) measures approximately 30 feet from the centerline of SR 81. Additional ROW and easement areas are not known at this time, but are unlikely. The total project length is approximately .23 mile.
