Abstract

The bridge on State Route (SR) 77 Spur over Cedar Creek, Structure ID 147-0013-0, was built in 1957. This bridge consists of three spans of continuous steel girders on concrete caps with concrete columns. The bridge has fatigue prone members (cantilever shoe bearings) in the superstructure. The structure is currently considered functionally obsolete due to its narrow deck width. The overall condition of this bridge would be classified as satisfactory. The deck is in good condition. The superstructure is in satisfactory condition with hairline cracking in the caps and minor spalls. This bridge is classified as having an unknown foundation and therefore could be at risk for scour. Due to the age of the structure, the fatigue prone members in the superstructure, the functionally obsolete classification, and the unknown foundation in the substructure, replacement of this 60-year-old bridge is recommended. Existing and proposed right-of-way (ROW) are unknown at this time.
