Abstract

In compliance with Section lu6 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, STP-030-4(24), Toombs / Tattnall Counties has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. The proposed project consists of the paving of 0.6 m (2 ft) of the existing shoulders along SR 30. The project would begin at MP 8.70 approximately 0.221 km (0.14 mi) west of the intersection of CR 390 in the city of Lyons and would end at the beginning of the Ohoopee River bridge (MP 0.37). No additional right-of-way would be required for the completion of the proposed project. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted along the entire project corridor.
