Report Number

Abstract

The proposed project would construct a new railroad siding on the Heart of Georgia Railroad in Emanuel County, Georgia approximately 6.5 km (4 miles) southwest of Swainsboro. A rail siding is a short railway track that connects to the mainline track that allows for the storage of unused rolling stock. The siding also allows trains traveling on the same line to pass if needed. The proposed rail siding would provide improved rail services to existing industrial facilities located on Old Nunez Road.  The proposed rail siding would be approximately 760 m (2,500 feet) long, and the proposed right-of-way (ROW) would be 12 m (40 feet) wide.
