Abstract

Project PFH-50(1), Jasper County is a proposal to replace five existing substandard bridge structures on County Road 141. However, this document addresses the effects to one NR eligible resource located at one of the five proposed bridge replacement locations. The following description concerns Bridge Location One, which crosses an unnamed tributary of the Ocmulgee River. The existing 5.8 m by 4.3 m (19.0 ft by 14.1 ft) bridge will be replaced by a 27.0 m by 20.0 m (88.58 ft by 65.62 ft) triple barrel concrete culvert on existing alignment. The project begins approximately 22.5 m (73.82 ft) northwest of the tributary and ends approximately 22.5 m (73.82 ft) southeast of the tributary for a total distance of approximately 45.0 m (147.64 ft). The existing right-of-way is approximately 3.0 m (9.8 ft). The proposed additional required right-of-way would be approximately 0.22 ha (0.55 ac). The road will be closed during construction of the proposed project. The alignment for the proposed project was developed by the Location Bureau which, as a standard procedure, includes environmental parameters as part of the location investigation prior to laying out a proposed alignment. Basic data of the corridor is gathered and studied. This data included at a minimum, topographic maps, traffic (existing and projected), previous studies, wetland inventory maps, soil survey maps, floodplain maps, and DNR historic resources survey maps.
