Abstract

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. conducted an intensive cultural resources survey of the approximately 1.6 ha (4 ac) proposed Attapulgus Substation tract, in Decatur County, Georgia, for Oglethorpe Power Corporation on 26 February, 1992. The tract is located in a young pine plantation, which afforded almost no surface visibility. A total of 26 shovel tests placed on a 30 m grid were excavated. No cultural materials were recovered and no cultural resources will be impacted by construction of the substation. It is the recommendation of the Principal Investigator that construction of the facility be allowed to proceed.
