Phase I Archaeological Survey of 8851 feet for the Proposed AT&T Fiber Optic Cable

Abstract

IRC conducted a Phase I archaeological survey prior to the construction of an AT&T fiber optic cable in Floyd County, Georgia. The proposed right-of-way is 8,851 feet by 16.5 feet. In addition, m area reported by local tradition to contain a historic cemetery was investigated. No graves or other indication of a cemetery could be located within 60 feet to the south or 100 feet to the north of the project corridor. One archaeological site (9FL411) and one isolated find were found during the archaeological survey. Neither resource is recommended eligible for the National Register of Historic Places NRHP). Cultural resources clearance to construct is recommended.
